Helen’s life began on May 9, 1944 in Galveston, Texas. She was the last child born to Sherman L. Arch, Sr and Beulah Arch. Helen attended schools in San Antonio, Texas and later graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University and taught at St. Phillips College for over ten years in the Nursing Administration Program.
Helen worked in the healthcare field for over 50 years in many capacities beginning as an LVN, Marketer, Quality Assurance Nurse, and a Nursing Home Administrator for well over 20 years.
Her hobbies were reading, jazz music and sports. Please note that her favorite team was her beloved SPURS. Helen also loved watching her favorite tennis players, most notably; Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal. She also enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed baking for friends/family and also loved a good game of Scrabble, playing cards and board games.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Beulah Arch, her beloved nephews Reginald Lewis and Tony Nance, Lloyd Arch, Jr. and F. Jay Bowdy, nieces; Lois Harrison Moore and Chloe Harrison, sisters; Dorothy Swain, Cecelia Gibson, and Carolyn Felton, Brothers; Sherman Jr. and Lloyd Sr., and her beloved son Sean A. Govan.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cher R. Postell, stepchildren Carla Mitchell, Sharon Govan-Smith, Carl Govan, Jr., grand daughter, Aliya Postell and great grandsons, Landon and Lennox Postell. She loved her nieces Diana Miller, Regina Lackland , Sharon Passmore and Ondrie Rodgers and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
