

Helen Goldberg Isgur died peacefully on January 14th, 2017 at the age of 93. Helen was born in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, New York to Sam and Rose Goldberg. She married Irving Isgur at the age of 19 in 1942 prior to his deployment to China. They spent 52 wonderful years together until Dad's death in 1998. Helen is survived by her loving family including her sons Stuart (Rebecca), Robert (Deborah) and Ron (Susan Lee), her 97-year-old fabulous sister, Gertrude Brown, six grandchildren - Yonder, Brooke, Josh, Sarah, Benjamin, and Jeremiah, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was proud of her Jewish faith and was active at Agudas Achim Synagogue. Helen was an active member of the Agudas Achim Sisterhood as well as Hadassah. She volunteered at the gift shop, was in charge of the Torah Fund for many years, and received numerous honors from Agudas Achim and Hadassah. Helen volunteered for many years with the Golden Manor resident birthday parties and the Agudas Achim annual Israeli Festival. She also volunteered for many years at Locke Hill Elementary School as a reading tutor and participated in numerous 5K charity walks.
She stayed active later in her life. She continued to bowl and was often the high scorer in a team of much younger women. She also played tennis into her 80's. Helen was a friend to everyone she met.
The family would especially like to thank Helen's caregivers, Josie and Susanna, for all their wonderful care, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kindness and compassion these past few months.
The funeral service will be conducted by Hazzan Jeremy Lipton, Monday, January 16th, 3PM at Agudas Achim 16550 Huebner Rd. Interment to follow at Agudas Achim Memorial Gardens. Shiva minyan and meal will follow the interment at 6:15 at Agudas Achim so family and friends can visit and reminisce.
