

Henry Murray Boothroyd passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on March 7,1986, in Fish Hoek, Cape Town, South Africa. Known to friends and family as Murray, he lived every day of his life passionately and without apology.
The youngest of seven, Murray was fiercely independent and strong willed. Growing up in Cape Town, he loved the ocean and fresh seafood. As a child in South Africa, Murray was devoted to his family and known for his entrepreneurial spirit. He was also known as a prankster, who wanted to make people laugh.
At the age of 20, he immigrated to America and settled in San Antonio. Murray and Monica Mery married on March 9, 2007. His proudest moments were the births of his two sons, James and Henry. His love for his wife and two sons was palpable and evident in everything he did. He excelled at problem solving and designing and executing home projects, such as repairing boats, building his own fire pit, furniture, and many other items. He also loved to play host to his friends and family with South African braai and other food from his grill. His kindness and generosity live on in the memories of those he knew and loved. He touched many lives in ways that only he could and has made a profound impact in his short time.
Murray is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Mery Boothroyd; their sons: James William and Henry Murray; his parents, James and Magdalena Boothroyd; brother, James Albert John Boothroyd; half-brothers: Paul Viviers, Stephan Wicks, and Leon Viviers; half-sisters: Marianca Boothroyd and Adri Stemmet; grandmother, Agnes Boothroyd; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Laura Mery; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Christopher Mery, Victoria Mery, and Marina Mery; Monica's grandmother, Myrtle Bashara, of Austin; along with numerous other friends and family members.
Murray will lie in state on Friday, November 20th from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.
On Saturday, November 21st, visitation will begin at 9:00 AM at St. George Maronite Catholic Church, 6070 Babcock, with recitation of the Rosary at 9:30 AM and the funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
