Henry H. Hernandez

He was born on June 2, 1924 in San Antonio, TX. Henry joined the U.S. Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was assigned to aircraft carrier U.S.S. Natoma Bay CVS 62, where his squadron VC-63, received various unit citations during combat in the Pacific.

After the war, Henry returned to San Antonio, TX and married his sweetheart, Gloria. He joined the San Antonio Fire Department and served 34 years before retiring.

Henry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gloria H. Hernandez; his two daughters, Gloria Gomez (Jose) and Dorothy Rodriguez (Patrick); his sister, Beatrice Martinez; his grandchildren, Gina Cooper (John), Rene Romo, Lana Vine, Michael Rodriguez, (Kathy) and Christopher Rodriguez (Carrie); great-grandchildren, Demetrius Kangas, Jacklyn Vine, James Henry Vine, Austin Rodriguez, Amanda Rodriguez, Ryan Rodriguez and Ethan Rodriguez.

The family will receive visitors on Thursday September 1, 2016 at Porter Loring Mortuary North from 6:00pm until 9:00pm with Rosary at 7:00pm.

Mass will be on Friday September 2, 2016 at 9:30am at St Joseph Catholic Church-Honey Creek, 25781 State Highway 46 W, Spring Branch, TX 78070

Interment to follow at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery
