In 1941, Herb joined the Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. He flew numerous missions in Europe and loved piloting the B-24.
Herb was Head of Intelligence in Guam. After retiring from the Air Force as a Lt. Col., in 1951, he was an active reservist as a flight instructor.
He later worked and retired from San Antonio City Public Service Board.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alberta "Bertie" Meyer.
Herb is survived by his daughters, Saundria Henderson and husband, Charles; Sharron Campbell and husband, Thomas; Earline Darm and husband, Thomas; and Deborah Morris and husband, Mac; along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
