She was born on July 10, 1938, in Liberty Hill Texas to the late Santos Guerrero Ruiz (mother), and Felix M. Aguirre Sr. (father), later growing up in Austin, Texas.
With deep love and gratitude for a life devoted to faith and family, we remember a remarkable woman whose greatest joy was caring for others. As a devoted wife and mother, Herlinda dedicated her life to raising her seven children with unwavering love, strength, and compassion. She later lovingly cared for her husband through his illness until his passing, and her daughter Suzie until her passing, a reflection of her selfless and faithful heart.
After her children were grown, she began her education at Our Lady of The Lake University, earning an Associate’s Degree in Education. She continued serving others as a teaching assistant for students with disabilities at The Mackey School of Northside Independent School District and ended her career teaching basic computer skills to elementary students at Ed Cody Elementary, where her kindness and patience touched many lives. She found happiness in traveling abroad, tending to her beautiful rose garden, and spending cherished time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other beloved relatives whenever they needed her.
She also expressed her love through cooking, especially for her family and friends. Her homemade tortillas and biscuits were favorites that brought comfort, warmth, and togetherness to those around her. Even Father Schulenburg from Holy Family would often walk in following the delicious smell of her fresh homemade tortillas, always hoping there were some waiting for him. Moments like these reflected her warmth and generosity, as the kitchen was one of the many places where her love could always be felt.
She was blessed with many lifelong friends whom she cherished deeply and loved spending time with throughout the years. Above all, she was a woman of strong and unwavering faith, devoted to the Catholic Church and to serving others through her ministry. At St Paul’s Catholic Church, she faithfully served as a member of the Altar Society, Eucharistic Minister for the homebound, a volunteer with the St Vincent de Paul Ministry, and a member of the Guadalupanas. Her life was a reflection of her deep love for God, her family, and her community. Her legacy of love, faith, sacrifice, and kindness will continue to live on through her family and all who knew and loved her.
Our family would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to her devoted caregiver, Delia Salinas for the loving care, compassion and companionship she provided over nearly the last five years. Her kindness and dedication brought comfort not only to her, but to our entire family during a very important time in her life.
We would also like to extend our deepest appreciation to our sister, Clara, who lovingly moved in with her and dedicated the last ten years to helping care for her with unwavering love, patience, and devotion. Her selfless sacrifice and constant presence were a true blessing to our mother and to our entire family.
A special thank you also goes to our sisters, Clara and Brenda, for the tender care, comfort, and love they gave our mother during the last days of her life. Their devotion allowed her to spend her final days surrounded by family, friends, dignity and love.
She peacefully passed away surrounded by love and comfort with her beloved dog, Mia faithfully resting by her side.
