Being a farmer the majority of his life, Heron enjoyed his retirement, often taking little excursions with his metal detector in search of hidden treasure. A man who enjoyed his fishing time with anyone who wanted to come along. He was also a dedicated and avid Dallas Cowboys fan, who cheered enthusiastically during every game. A hard worker with good work ethics and a loving man to his family and friends. A strong person who knew what it took to persevere, who taught his children the meaning of hard work and learning how to be strong and independent. Heron was a mild mannered and easy-going man, who loved kidding around with everyone he considered family and friends. Heron was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family and friends up to the very end.
Heron will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Jenaro and Robert Escalante. He is survived by his wife Maria Vasquez Escalante, his three children: Heron, Jr., Christina and Teresa, his grand-daughter Angelica Medina and his great-grandson Enzo Vargas; all of San Antonio. He is also survived by his siblings John Escalante of San Angelo, Demetrio Escalante and sister, Frances Perez both of Levelland, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
