Heron Rene Sanchez

Mr. Sanchez was born to Abel and Juana Sanchez in Rio Grande City, Texas. He attended Texas Military Institute in San Antonio Texas A & M University and St. Mary's University.

He spent many years as an elementary school teacher at Blessed Sacrament and St. Peter's Catholic School in San Antonio, then as an English language instructor at the Defense Language Institute at Lackland AFB until retirement in 1987. His position as an instructor took him and his family to Turkey where they lived for an adventurous four years.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Irene O. Sanchez; his grandson, Jason Rene Sanchez; his brother Abel Sanchez; and sisters Ninfa Guerra, Lydia Guerra and Araceli Ramey.

He is survived by his four sons, Heron (Rene) Sanchez, Jr. and wife Marie-Ange, David Sanchez and wife Kathy, John Sanchez, Paul Sanchez and wife Pam; and his only daughter, Laura Sanchez; his grandchildren, Yvonne Sanchez Blackstone and Brian Sanchez; and his great-grandchildren, Brandon and Samantha; and additionally, Gloria Trevino, his caretaker of many years.

Visitation will begin at 5:00pm Sunday, July 7th at Porter Loring.
