

Howard had many amazing successes in his life: he received his Bachelor’s degree, while raising his 3 boys and working full time in the United States Air Force. Howard completed 22 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was soon employed at Lockheed Martin in Austin, Texas. Where he worked until his second retirement. Howard then started a company, Star Technical Services. Life gave him many friends, and none finer than Mr. Ed Kirkham. They soon partnered at Star Technical Services and continue to support the Armed Forces. Howard gave 60 years to the United States government. When Howard retired the 3rd time, the US Flag was flown in his honor over the nation’s capital, NSA, headquarters 16th Air Force Base San Antonio & Strategic Air Force Command in Nebraska, Flying a loop to honor Howard for his dedicated years of service.
Howard and his wife, Brenda were married for 35 enchanted years. The two of them had a love for travel. With numerous travels far and wide!
Howard has an amazing legacy in his four sons: Michael Howard Levis, 55. John Philip Levis, 51 (wife Dawn Levis). James David Levis,48 (Catherine Spurlock) and Fred Alexander Smith, 45. They still honor Howard in their accomplishments. Howard was extremely proud of his grandchildren; Steven Levis,30 (wife Mariana Levis), Justin Levis, 24, Mary Levis, 20, Gavin Levis 20, and Kristopher Levis 17. Howard’s sister Joan Levis Boule and her son Darin Boule (Wife Allison & 2 boys) live in southern Florida also share the love of Howard and his great life. Howard had many beloveds, extended family members who he cared for dearly: Jenny Nibert, Ethan Poskey, Catherine Arias, Gabrielle & Analisa Esqueda.
Howard learned his work ethic at an early age, working his summers on his grandfather’s dairy farm in upstate New York and pumping gas at his uncle’s gas station at 9 years of age. He was able to purchase a small fishing boat and enjoyed a true Mark Twain, Huck Finn boyhood. The constant parade of cars coming and going from the gas station tweaked Howard’s interest in cars. Soon he was working on cars and showed true initiative to earn his extra pocked money.
Howard shined in athletics during his high school years at Woodrow Wilson. Breaking the Connecticut state record in track. He multi-lettered, winning many ribbons in Track and Cross Country.
Howard was known for his love for volleyball. In fact, Howard started volleyball in the Air Force. He also practiced with the US Volleyball Olympics team in Oahu, HI. Howard helped bring championships to Germany where he also coached the team. Howard also played and won championships on the Master’s team, The Legends, in Austin Texas. He took the love of Volleyball with him, on his overseas assignment, helping to instill all his knowledge into the communities of Kastellan and Kirchberg Germany. Through his guidance helped win the town a permanent trophy.
Howard loved to watch football with his boys. Their love for the Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas football will definitely live on.
Howard was proceeded in death by his parents, Howard T Levis and Helen Catherine Levis.
Howard’s love for life will live on his legacy with his wife Brenda, his children, grandchildren, and many friends. He will be forever loved and missed.
A visitation for Howard will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A reception will occur Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A committal service will occur Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78234.
