

Imogene (Genie) Edgar, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. Born in rural Custer County, OK, to Jim and Florence (Hudgins) Morton November 30, 1922. She was preceded in death by husband, Major Clifford M. Edgar who she married on Christmas Day, 1941 at the family farm. Genie graduated from Keen Business College.
She was an avid golfer and won many awards and title trophies. She had served as a hostess of the Texas Open Golf Tournament. One of her fondest memories was driving Arnold Palmer in a golf cart to the hostess tent at a tournament. Genie and Cliff owned tickets to the Masters Tournament for 70 years. They loved entertaining and hosting bridge parties. They traveled the world through the military and lived in Japan and Puerto Rico. After moving to San Antonio in 1960 they loved having family and friends visit. Genie was a member of the Engineer Wives Club of Fort Sam Houston, Fort Sam Houston Women's Golf Association, Retired Officer's Wives and Widows Club and San Antonio Garden Center and was active as recently as 2017.
Genie was preceded in death by nephews, Jimmy Burgess and Chad Morton. Genie is survived by her sister, June Littke (Raymond) and brothers, Jim (Ardell), Bob (Alice), and Dwain (Carole) Morton. Nieces and nephews include Mike Burgess (Brenda), Mitzi Morton, Janet (Greg) Thurston, Steven Morton, Deann Bruce (Darrell), Dana Morton, and Greg Morton (Shannon). Also, numerous great nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver Dilva Elizondo.
Genie was known to the family as "Little One," a nickname her husband Cliff gave her. A note written long ago by Cliff is still posted on the refrigerator stating "Mr. Ed loves Little One".
Genie enjoyed all sports especially her San Antonio Spurs. Her Oklahoma family loves the Oklahoma State Cowboys and she hosted them for two Alamo Bowl games and the 2004 Final Four as well as the San Antonio Rodeo and Stock Show.
