Iola Carolyn Berg

Went to be with Our Lord on april 28, 2023.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Elliot (Buzz)

Iola was born in Dixmont, ME to Albion Gray and Aleta Hines-Gray on February 7, 1931. Like her 6 siblings before her, she would be given to her grandparents Hines to raise. Iola only knew love growing up and after she finished two years at Hudson College in Maine she went on to join the Air Force in 1949. While she was stationed at the Pentagon, she met and married the love of her life, Buzz. They were married on a Friday the 13th, August 1952 until Buzz died June 2010. During those years they had two children and travelled the world in the military.

Iola is survived by daughter, Pamela (Steven) and, son, Mark (Delilah), a host of grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.

Her memorial service will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 5714 Callaghan Road, San Antonio, TX 78229 followed by military honors at 11:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, TX 78209.
