

His loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Katherine Wilson of Clover, South Carolina, his five children Linda and her husband Chuck, Nancy and her husband Dale, Janet and her husband Carley, Bill and Karen regret to announce the passing of MSGT. Ira M. Rogers on September 22, 2017. He was born on March 30, 1931 in Dillon County, South Carolina. A proud military veteran, he joined the U S Army in 1951 after serving in the Army Reserves and spent time in Korea and Viet Nam and retired in San Antonio, Texas after 26 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ira Rogers Sr. and Florence Herrington Rogers, his sisters Creola, Margaret and Etta Lou, and his brothers, Willie Mac, J.B., Boyd and R.C.
He is survived by one brother, Tommy, of South Carolina. He is also survived by seven grand-children Phillip (Stephanie) Goettsch, Adam (Jen) Goettsch, Shane (Katie) Sartalamacchia), Jeremy (Dana) Sartalamacchia), Chad (Cortney) Sartalamacchia, Travis (Jessica) Sartalamacchia and Kathleen Andrews (Colton ) Williams and thirteen great grand-children Kylie, Ceara, Caleb, Joshua, Cassie, Alex, Emma, Elizabeth, Arwen, Luke, Travis Jr, Ollie and Teddy.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be 12 noon, Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
