Irene E. Russell, born July 3, 1925, entered rest on Saturday January 26, 2013 at the age of 87. She was born to Otto Gustav and Maria Roth Rathske in Goerlitz, Germany. Following World War II, she met Arthur A. Russell, a former American P.O.W. They were married in 1954. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and daughter-in-law, Patricia Russell. She is survived by her son, Ronald Russell; loving friends, Karen and Skip Krueger and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2012 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A graveside service will be held on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 9:00am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
