

Irving "Link" Linick, age 89, passed away January 14, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Strandtman Linick; his parents, Abraham and Frances Linick; brother, Mort Linick, and sister, Edith Garmezy. He is survived by his sons, Terry Linick and wife Sue; Steven Linick and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Jeffrey Linick, Justin Linick, Ryan Linick, Christopher Linick; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Link was born on July 30, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School in 1941. He served in World War II as a Flight Officer responsible for training pilots and navigators. He was stationed in Altus, Oklahoma and San Marcos, Texas. It was in San Marcos that he met his wife-to-be, Doris Strandtman, and they were married May 19, 1945. Link then attended the Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos and was awarded a Master of Arts Degree in Education and Spanish in 1950. After graduation, he and his family moved to San Bonito, Texas, where he was in the first group of certified secondary school counselors in the state.
Mr. Linick had a long career in the insurance business, and in the early 1960's he became the owner-manager of the Link Linick Insurance Agency, which he managed until his retirement in the late 1980's. After retirement, Link was very active in his Kings Grant Forest neighborhood, as well as by all who met him.
