Izaya Eyan Escandon, age 24, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in La Vernia, Texas. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, father, and friend. Izaya was born on December 10, 2000, in Lubbock, Texas, to parents Katherine (Rios) and Martin Escandon, Jr.
Izaya held God first and above all. He devoted his time to reading the Bible and attending Community Bible Church, where he was baptized in March of 2025. He had a passion for tattooing, weightlifting, and animals. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nephew, Jayce, who he called his pride and joy. He loved using a telescope to admire the sky and moon at night, bike riding in the countryside with his dogs, watching scary movies with his family, working on his classic square body in the garage, and following UFC and boxing, an interest that he shared with his father. He graduated early from James Madison Highschool and was employed at H-E-B.
He was preceded in death by his cousins, Eric Rios and Alonzo Estrada; his great aunt, Christina Estrada; his grandpas, Magin Rios and Martin Escandon Sr.; and great grandparents. Izaya is survived by his parents, Kathy and Martin Escandon, Jr.; siblings, Adam Escandon, Gabriella Escandon, Nicole Escandon, and Megan Escandon; nephews, Jayce Vasquez and David Esparza; and many other extended family members and good friends.
The family will receive extended family and close friends privately from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
Interment will immediately follow in Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian, 11624 Culebra Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78253.
Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Adam Escandon, Marcus Escandon, Zachary Rios, Jo-mikel Escandon, Evan Escandon, Seth Wheeler, Mike Escandon, Adrian Escandon, and Stevie Escandon.
