Jack V. Gates

He was born January 22, 1920, in Johns, Mississippi, to the late John and Carrie Gates.

He graduated from high school in Poteet, Texas and attended college at Texas A&I in Kingsville. Jack was called to active duty in the US Army his senior year, November 8, 1940. He served 1 year in the European Theater and was discharged as a Captain, after dutifully serving 5 years and 3 months.

Jack owned and managed J. Ross Boles Co. with offices in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston until he retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Lions Club, Executive Club, Rodeo Association and the Breakfast club.

He was saved in 1965 and served as Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday School at the following Churches of which he visited each enthusiastically: Poteet Baptist, Trinity Baptist, Northridge Park Baptist and Bulverde Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Gladys Mae Morgan.

Jack is survived by his children, Carolyn Gates and husband, David Truong of Malaysia, John Gates of Bulverde, Gary Gates and wife, Margaret of San Antonio; grandchildren, Alexandra and Nickoli Gates of San Antonio.
