Jack was a man who was not afraid of hard work and meeting new challenges. During his 20 + year career in the United States Air Force, he served in Vietnam and worked as an Air Traffic Controller, Environmental Health Technician/ Industrial Hygienist, and a Bioenvironmental Engineering Specialist. He also found the time to attend culinary school at St. Phillip’s College, earning a culinary arts degree in the 80’s. Which he used upon his retirement working as a chef and later on his final career change as a Golf ranger at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort and Spa.
When Jack wasn’t hard at work or deep in his culinary studies he enjoyed golfing, riding motorcycles, shooting at the gun range, paintballing, and volleyball at the senior center these last few years. He never grew tired of playing pranks on people and telling a dirty joke or two. But his greatest joy was the time he spent with his beloved family.
He leaves behind wife of 36 years, Elvira; his six children, Michael, Ann, Suzanne, Jennifer, Pamela, and Jonathan; and nine grandchildren, Christopher, Jose, Abbey, Owen, Aria, Hazel, Leland, Winnie, and Evan.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 5:00 -8:00PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX, 78238. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021 at 12:00 PM in the chapel at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
