

Jack R. Reid, age 75, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Canyon City, Colorado. Jack was an Army veteran, a Bronze Star recipient with a "V" for Valor for his service in the Korea War. He worked for the government at Kelly Air Force Base for over 30 years as a federal police officer. Jack was an early skydiving instructor. He loved fishing, and gardening, especially orchids. Jack also enjoyed soccer and doting on his grandchildren. He took life to its fullest. He was preceded in death by his son, Jack R. Reid, Jr., and his parents, Frank Robert Reid and Edith Marie Winchester Reid. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his sons Jack E., Jeffrey R. and wife, Meredith, Robert B., son-by-choice, Philip "Charley" Gannon; daughter, Barbara Kelso and husband, Tracie; brothers: identical twin, Ben Reid, half-brother, Mike Reid; grandchildren, Dalton Reid, Mason Reid, Carlie Kelso, Weston Kelso; brother-by-choice, Larry A. Brown; brother-in-law, Charles A. Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
