

Jacqueline Lois Cooper, 85, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on the morning of August 21, 2010. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Minnie Mary and Howard Berton Cooper. She received her nursing degree from Nazareth College in Louisville, Kentucky. Jackie, as she was known by her friends, was a retired Lt. Colonel Nurse with the US Army and received her Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Washington. Jackie's service in the US Army spanned twenty-three years. She was predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Howard, her brother Richard Cooper of San Francisco and her nephew, Cliff Cooper of San Francisco. She was the much-loved aunt to Chris Cooper of Clinton, Maryland, Craig Cooper (Elizabeth) of Fremont, California and Cathy Steele (Gregg) of San Rafael, California. Jackie was blessed with many dear friendships and a rich history of honorable and compassionate service to others. She found a great canine companion in Babette, but held all animals in high regard. She is also survived by numerous other great-nephews and nieces. Jackie was active throughout the years enjoying a favorite pastime in bowling, as well as her committed support to the Windcrest Chapter #612 of the American Legion Post and many non-profits too great to name here. A military burial service with honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 8:30am. Friends are welcome to gather at a reception held at the Pear Tree Inn located at 8300 IH 35 North, immediately following the burial. Jackie's family is most grateful to those treasured friends who enriched her life.
