Our sweet and loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and dear friend, Jake Taylor, passed away peacefully at his home on Medina Lake on Sunday, November 27th, he was 40 years old. For those that knew him, Jake was an incredibly special person and very talented. His natural gifts shined when he was around people, especially those he loved. He never met a stranger and was exceedingly kind and caring to everyone. Jake always saw the best of everyone and every situation, regardless of circumstance. For more than 28 years Jake struggled with a multitude of illness and disease that should have claimed him long ago, but he had a warrior spirit and bounced back time and time again. Jake loved so strongly and lived his best days on the edge. He was extraordinarily witty and funny. You just couldn’t help enjoying yourself in Jake’s illuminating presence and belly laughs were always in the air. He could rescue a person from their darkest days with his jokes and his stories, mostly because he wasn’t afraid to laugh and exploit his own misadventures and spontaneous, error-prone decision making ability. Jake’s passion was fishing, he was happiest with a rod and reel in his hands. He loved fishing for largemouth bass on Medina Lake or waiting for his pole to bend in the surf of Big Shell. There aren’t enough precious souls like his on this earth and we dearly miss him.
Jake is survived by his mother and stepdad (Candace and Steve Bridges), his father and stepmother (Robert and Lana Taylor), his brother and family (Charlie, Courtney, Trinity, and Tristan), his stepsiblings and their families (Shannon, Armando, Sophia, and Stella Hernandez; Stacy, Derek, Stone, and Zoey Kahanek; Seth, Melinda, Ricky (Gonzales), and Henry Bridges; Brandon, Jessica, Darcy, and Jase Crady; and Nick Crady and Sydney De La Cruz), many other aunts, uncles, cousins, family members, and countless friends.
Jake left us many amazing memories that will last our lifetimes. We ask his friends and family to continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest and to always have an unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jake and his life were a miracle in and of itself and a testament to the power of faith, prayer, and a devotion to God.
Jake’s remains will be cremated in the coming days, and he will be honored with a Celebration of Life at Porter Loring Mortuary West on Friday, December 30th at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests a donation to the San Antonio Amputee Foundation (https://www.saamputeefoundation.org/), a fantastic organization that was very dear to Jake.
