He was born on January 13, 1933 in Hebronville, Texas, to parents, Leslie and Iola Upton, and was a graduate of the University Texas at Austin.
Jake was a lifelong Texan and an active member of the Fellowship of San Antonio Church. To Jake, his family was his whole world and he was very proud of them.
Jake is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Marietta Upton; two daughters, Suzie Upton, and Lisa D. Upton; brother, Ed Upton and wife Becky.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
