

Jimmie was born in Pontotoc, Texas to James Miller Draper and Maude Ashby Draper on September 27, 1927. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Orville and Melvin and sister Pauline McGarraugh.
He is survived by his sister Kathleen Kothmann Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
After losing his father at a young age, Jimmie moved to San Antonio to find work so he could support his mother. He started work with the Coca Cola Company and over the years worked his way up the career ladder and retired after 37 years of service.
Jimmie was active in the community and was a member of the San Antonio Restaurant Association for many years and assisted with many river walk festivities.
Jimmie was also instrumental in reviving the culture and art form of mariachi music in San Antonio. His efforts in the community and outreach to local schools spurred a revival of mariachi culture through instruction at the high school level.
