

James Malcolm Duncan, M.D., was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 29, 1941, and passed away on August 14, 2021, in San Antonio. He moved to Mercedes, Texas, in 1946 and graduated from Mercedes High School Class of 1959. Several Universities lead to his final goal of specializing in gastroenterology: University of Texas Austin, Tulane University, Tulane Medical School, Washington University Medical School in St. Louis, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also spent two years on duty in the U. S. Army during The Vietnam War, obtaining the rank of Major before he finally joined The Diagnostic Clinic in San Antonio in 1973. He finished his career at BAMC.
Some of his many interests included working with The Episcopal Church and various charities, worldwide travels with his family, and working with The Republican Party at several levels. He also enjoyed fine dining, was an excellent cook and a History buff. His pet chihuahua Punkin was always a source of Joy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louisa Duncan; his late wife, Janet Dunn; his sisters, Ann Peterson and Minerva Taylor. He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Naomi, sons Mark and Charles; brother William Duncan-O'Neil; and nieces and nephews.
