James Flores, age 60, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A retired officer of the San Antonio Police Department, James dedicated almost 30 years to serving the community he loved. His career was primarily spent as a bike patrol officer, patrolling the vibrant streets of Downtown San Antonio. In 1990, the Downtown Alliance pitched an idea to the city to create this bike patrol unit, and James was proud to be one of its founding members, ensuring the safety of both locals and visitors to the city. His commitment to the community was unwavering, and his efforts had a lasting impact on the sense of security and well-being now known in Downtown San Antonio.
James had a passion for classic rock music, often found with his favorite tunes by Rush and Pink Floyd playing in the background, a soundtrack that friends and family will fondly remember.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliva Contreras and Andrew Flores as well as his brother, Steven Flores and sister, Gilda Flores. James is survived by his beloved daughter, Sarah Flores, and her husband, Bobby Garcia; his cherished grandchildren, Owen and Addison Garcia; and Sarah's mother, Jean Jamieson.
