

He graduated from Brackenridge High School where he played football on opening day of Alamo Stadium. In 1941, he married Modena Gaffney. They were married for 64 years until her passing in 2006.
He joined the Coast Guard in 1942 and was a member for three years until 1945. When he was 31 years old, he joined the San Antonio Police Department where he made the rank of Detective Sergeant. He retired after 23 years in 1977.
He was an avid golfer that loved to play at Brackenridge and Willow Springs golf course where he earned the name of Jim Dandy. He also played in the senior open every year.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Dena, his son Michael, and his granddaughters - Dawn and Shannon.
He is survived by his son Dale, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many loving friends.
The family would like to thank Cindy, his caregiver for the past years of wonderful care she gave him.
