

He graduated from Byrd High School, Shreveport, Louisiana, in the Class of 1947, Tulane University undergraduate school in 1951 and received his medical degree from Louisiana State University LSU Medical School in 1955.
Following medical school, he undertook a rotating internship with Confederate Memorial Medical Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He followed his internship with a General Surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester,
Minnesota, during which, for a two year period, he served as a Flight Surgeon and achieved the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force as Chief of Surgical Service at England Air Force Base in Louisiana. Following his residency, he began his private medical practice in Lubbock, Texas and relocated his practice to San Antonio, Texas.
He served as past Chairman of Medical Services with the Baptist Hospital System, past Secretary of the Surgical Section of the Texas Medical Association, past Chairman of the Surgical Section of the Texas Medical Association and was appointed clinical instructor of Surgery at the UTSAHSC. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, Alumni Association of Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Lubbock, Crosby, Garza County Medical Society, Lubbock Surgical Society and Surgical Society of San Antonio, Argyle Club, San Antonio Country Club and Blue Wing Club.
He was in private practice as a General Surgeon for over 43 years. When he was 13 years old, he met Virginia Scootie Day, his childhood sweetheart, who he dated throughout high school and married June 29, 1951. They remained happily married for over 55 years.
He will be well remembered by his many friends and his family for his love for people of all walks of life, his dedication to his profession; but those who knew him well also knew his greatest love and passion was for his wife and his children and grandchildren.
He was an avid and accomplished hunter and fisherman.
He and his wife, Scootie were active members of Alamo Heights Methodist Church for over 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Scootie; his four children, Foster, John, Helen and Glenda; his son and daughters-in-law, Frank, Rosa and Lisa; his eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Zane, Alex, Jonathan, Megan, Julianna, Sammy and Caroline; and his niece, Pam Tucker.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Glenn Earl Huff and grandson, Jamie Huff.
His family would like to express their great appreciation for the assistance of Dr. Burke Morison and Dr. Steven Cohen for their medical services and care provided to Jimmy.
Honorary pallbeares for the memorial service are close friends, Dr. Jesse Diaz, Richard Killian, Roger Hill, Ted O'Neil, Lamoine Holland, Steve Wilde, Dr. James Nixon, Max Durham of Hammond, Louisiana, Neilson Jacobs of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Art Snell.
