James “Jim” Andrew O'Connor, a resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on May 17, 1947, in Scituate, Massachusetts, Jim was the beloved son of Elizabeth A. Boyd and James E. O'Connor.
Jim O'Connor was a hard-working and generous individual who dedicated 25 years of his life to the Massachusetts State Police. He proudly served 3 years on the highway and 22 years as a detective, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community.
He met his wife, Carole, on a blind date for a golf tournament, which they won, marking the beginning of a cherished partnership.
An avid and superb golfer, Jim shot a remarkable 66 at the age of 68 and maintained a 2-handicap. He participated in the senior amateur tour and shared his passion for the sport by teaching young golfers, who affectionately called him "Oldie" or "OC." Beyond golf, he enjoyed playing bridge, traveling the world, going on cruises, and indulging in his love for red wine. A true sports enthusiast, Jim was a devoted fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.
Jim's life was a testament to his love for family, sports, and community. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole O’Connor; son, Chris O’Connor and fiancé Erin; daughters Suzanne O’Connor and Colleen O’Connor; siblings Mary McElwee, Edward O’Connor and Charles O’Connor and wife Jeannie; grandchildren, Conlan O’Connor, Caroline O’Connor, Ewan Beale, Eva Beale and Julia Beale.
A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, San Antonio, Texas, followed by a reception.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Scituate, Massachusetts.
