He was raised in Hugo, OK and was a proud veteran of the US Navy who served during WWII from 1941 – 1962. Amongst courageous individuals, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Lexington until she sank, served on the USS Enterprise and later on the USS Hornet.
After retiring from the US Navy, he was employed with IBM and Valero Corporation, retiring from both companies. James was a member of St. Chad's Anglican Church. He volunteered his service for over 20 years to the Telephone Pioneer Talking Books workshop.
He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Temple.
He is survived by his son, daughter, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held in October at Morningside Meadows.
