Jane C. Chu, beloved wife and mother, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in Hunan, China, on April 10, 1934, Jane lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, George P. Chu. She is survived by her three children: Eugene Chu, Janet Robinson, and Howard Chu, all of whom carry forward her legacy of strength and love.
Jane pursued her nursing degree in Taipei, Taiwan, where she also trained as a midwife. In 1967, she and George immigrated to the United States, and they proudly became U.S. citizens in 1976. Jane dedicated her career to maternal health, working as a registered nurse in OB/GYN at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Her work touched countless lives, and she was deeply respected by both her patients and colleagues. After her husband accepted a teaching position in Hong Kong, Jane continued her nursing career there before they returned to the United States.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Jane had a vibrant personal life. She was a passionate gardener, particularly known for her stunning orchid collection. A fierce and joyful competitor at mahjong, she shared many lively evenings—sometimes all night—with her close circle of friends.
Jane will be remembered for her boundless kindness, unwavering loyalty, and the quiet strength she brought to every challenge. Her sense of humor, radiant smile, and warm spirit enriched the lives of everyone she met. Whether as a skilled nurse, a devoted friend, or a loving mother, Jane's presence was a gift. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
