Jane was born in the small town of Lillie, Louisiana to Willie & Jacob Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers Wayne and Preston and her husband of 65 years, Edward Dunfield, her oldest son Doug Dunfield. She is survived by her daughter Marijke Gaidry (Doug), son Richard Dunfield (Zina), two granddaughters, Ashleigh Elliott and Krystal Elliott, two grandsons, Hunter Dunfield (Brailey) and Henderson Clepper and great grandchildren, Vincent Perez, George Woodman III, Alayna Clepper and Finley Dunfield.
Jane and Ed met at the boarding house where she rented a room in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and 9 months later were married in the Baring Cross Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas on March 17, 1957.
Jane was the quintessential officer’s wife and they traveled the world together. Their very first trip was "just two kids from the sticks going on a big cruise" she fondly reminisced.
Once settling in San Antonio, Jane went to work for Kay's Creations and became an interior designer - designing and decorating a multitude of homes - including the family home she and Ed built. She was also invited to decorate the Parade of Homes. This career then led her on her entrepreneurial path and acquired International Marble Inc. Before "breaking the glass ceiling" was even a thought Jane did it by becoming the 1st female president of the Texas Cultured Marble Association. This career then led to opening a successful high end gift shop - Carriage Hill Gifts. Her eye for detail and decor transcended daily through the gift shop. Her gift-wrapping skills were an art in itself.
Jane's hobbies were No. 1 her husband Ed, Bridge (she could play a mean hand) the slots and travel.
Jane loved her family unconditionally and was always there to help, never missing a celebration or a function that anyone was involved in. Through everything she did, she always did what she did best – making the world brighter and more beautiful.
Jane cared deeply for her community, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was very active with Colonial Hills United Methodist Church.,Heaven has gained a true loving angel and she will be deeply missed - but we know - she and Ed are together again.
