Dr. Marcos graduated medical school in 1965 from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.
He was a captain in the US Army during the Vietnam War, then finished his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery from University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas in 1975, and then pioneered a successful practice as a heart surgeon for over three decades. His skills as a surgeon were exemplary.
His life touched many people in profound ways. He was very devoted to his wife, Yolanda, whom he treasured for over 40 years. He was a loving father, son, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. He was lovingly known to all as "Chief".
Javier is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda Marcos; his children, Yolanda Marcos, MD, Jackie Marcos-Char, and Javier Marcos, Jr.; his grandchildren, Loren, Roberto, Nicole and Zachary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Victoria Marcos.
