Jean Felsing peacefully entered eternity on November 25, 2021 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Jean, the second of four sisters born to Eugene and Nona Felsing, grew up in Harlandale Baptist Church and graduated from Harlandale High School. Jean enjoyed an extremely successful career at USAA, taking on tasks and leadership roles that were especially remarkable for a woman of her time. Upon retirement, Jean and her sister Sylvia enjoyed traveling with close friends and family. They spent summers in Lake Tahoe and winters in New York City, but they always called San Antonio home. Jean enjoyed a variety of board games, shopping, decorating, and the occasional trip to a casino. Jean especially enjoyed meeting new people and discussing things that were meaningful to her, including her faith and family.
Jean was preceded in death by her mother Nona Felsing, her father Eugene Felsing, her sisters Joan Felsing Teel, Sylvia Felsing and Betty Vanderhider, and her nephew Alan Vanderhider. Jean is survived by her brother-in-law Bill Vanderhider; Nephew Larry Vanderhider, his wife Shirley, son Chris and his daughter Briana and son Ethan; Niece Vicki Hall, her husband Bill, and sons William and Bradley; Great-Niece Lisa Klar and her husband Jason; and Great-Nephew David Vanderhider and his wife Bethany. Jean is also survived by the newest joys of her life, Hannah, Leah, and Olivia. The family would like to thank all of Jeans wonderful caregivers, including her loving and dedicated caregiver for over eight years, Nikki Pierce.
A service to honor Jean's life will be held on Tuesday, December 7 at 10:30 at Porter Loring North Chapel. Interment will be private for family at Mission Burial Park South. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's memory can be made to the South Texas Children's Home or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
