Jeannie (Crowder) DeVore passed away on September 7, 2024 at 80 years of age. In the days preceding her passing, she testified of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Jeannie was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on December 25, 1943—a Christmas gift to her parents, George and Helen Crowder. While she was a young girl living in the Memphis, TN area, many of Jeannie’s family members migrated to Lake County, Indiana. She lived in New Chicago, IN, and graduated from River Forest High School. Jeannie was a part-time cheerleader—and according to her--she did not like the cold at football games, and so cheered only during basketball games. After high school she married and moved to Porter County, IN, where she raised four children. In 2007 Jeannie moved to San Antonio, Texas to live near her eldest son Rick. A significant accomplishment in her life was her vow to stop smoking when she moved to San Antonio, and she kept that vow for the remainder of her life. Jeannie is survived by her four children: Rick (Janet) Kolczak in San Antonio, Texas, Don (Carrie) Kolczak in Davenport, Florida, Pamela (Bill) Robertson in Caldwell, Idaho, and Melanie (Matt) Erickson in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Tim Kolczak in College Station, Texas, Bonni Kolczak in San Antonio, Texas, Julie (Daniel) Beedle in Bandera, Texas, Ashley (Michael) Sawyer at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, Noah Hickman in Cleveland, Ohio, Jesse (Alli) Erickson in Ithaca, New York, and Cole (Kayla) Erickson in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, and three great grandchildren in Bandera, Texas. Jeannie had fond memories of two of her closest cousins, Linda (Hill) Janiczek and Paul “Andy” Naglosky. The family would like to thank Rick and Janet Kolczak as well as Jeannie’s granddaughter Bonni for their help during the last years of Jeannie’s life. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, should friends and family desire, contributions may be sent to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) or The COPD Foundation.
