I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of one of my dearest friends going back to Brooklyn. May he rest in peace. His suffering is over. I’ll miss talking about Aggie football with him. What he did for his students made him a hero to many for a long time. Rest, my friend, rest. Frank Gianakos

He made such an impact on so many of our lives as students. Always kind, respectful, caring, and full of energy. He loved what he did and helped so many of us through the years. May you rest peacefully in paradise sir!

Looking back to my high school years and there are a few staff members that made a tremendous impact on my life and Mr. Blum and his buddy Mr. Gold had that impact on my life and ensured I graduated high school.  While in the U.S. Navy I was as a Navy  recruiter assigned to Brackenridge High School my ala mater.  It was a great pleasure working with Mr. Blum on finding ways to help students with alternatives after high school. My condolences go out to his wife and family and may God see you through this difficult time.

Mr. Blum was the counselor at Brack during 1986-1990 school year. He may not have been my counselor, but he assisted the counselor I had. He was a kind and helpful person. He was full of knowledge and patience. Years later, he was the counselor for my son and daughter who attended Travis.  Whenever we would go to Travis, he always came to us and struck up a conversation. He was the same person as he was than. Very kind, helpful, and still plenty of patience. I am shocked and saddened by his passing. My condolences go out to his family.  The world has lost a great person.   He will surely be missed.

Mr. Blum was my high school counselor at Brackenridge HS from 1988-1992. He was always helpful and kind. He was also a funny guy. I ran into him when I first started teaching, about 22 years ago, at a some professional development for educators and counselors and he still remembered me. He will be missed. May he Rest In Peace.

Dear Mr.Blum, I was sadden to hear of your passing, you were my counselor at Wheatley High School, I want to thank you for always giving words of encouragement to me during lunch time in the mall area, and although for me my plans went a different direction, your kind words and sense of caring went a long way with me, I left school early went on to St. Phillips to get my GED, I did okay, I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with me, you words didn’t fall on deaf ears , to the Blum family my families and my prayers are with you all in this difficult time, God be with you all Tomas Zuniga Jr.(would of been class of 83)

Jeff will be remembered as one of the most feisty & hard working counselors in SAISD. He loved a good argument! I worked with him as a high school counselor at Burbank.  Jeff, may you REST IN PEACE. You will be missed.

I am so sorry to know that Jeff has passed. We haven't been in touch in many years.   He reached out to me about a month ago.  I was delighted to hear from him after so long. He must have had a premonition of what was to come.  After so long, it was wonderful to hear from him and know about his family. I am so sorry that it was such a short revival of our relationship. My name is Herbert Nance, former counselor-retired at Sam Houston High School 1994-2004, and sadden by the transition of Jeff.  We met in 1994, became instant friends, and worked on many projects, took continuing education classes together, and enjoyed our fellowship.  Our favorite past time was kidding each other about never stopping in Vidor, TX since I'm a Black American and he being of Jewish heritage (Smile) Will be missed/will keep your family in my prayers.

Mr. Blum was an amazing mentor at Travis E.C.H.S. He helped so many students make life-changing decisions to follow High School. Mr. Blum helped me prepare for college. He will be greatly missed! -Diana C.

Mr. Blum was the counselor during my years at Brackenridge HS, nice, funny, and kind. Years later, I had the pleasure of seeing him again at Travis Early College, he was my daughters counselor, always so helpful. My condolences,  may he rest in peace.

I meet Mr. Blum at the SAISD at Travis HS, he always had the right words to put things. I remember that he encourage d me not to give up. To keep going, to strife for more and I did. I think he would be proud of me today.  I work at the technology dept. For SAISD.  I will miss you, and God bless you and your family. I thank God for putting you in my life. Jeff I’m sure you see our hearts breaking.  Give our love to the folks.  We’ve sure had some great times since May 1972. You are missed terribly. And you surely left your mark on so many people.  You are a blessed asset to the world you left behind.  I can promise we’re here for your daughters and blessed wife.  Remember we spoke of this.  Yet I hate it happened. It’s still hard to believe he’s gone. Uncle Jeff was one of a kind!  He changed so many lives over the years and will be missed terribly!  We’ll be planting a tree to honor him and our other loved ones who we have lost.  Love  Robbie and Lee
