Jeff was born on April 29,1969 to George and Mary Lee Sauer, who he always loved to keep on their toes from the day he was born. He was a devoted son who took pride in taking care of his parents throughout the years. He thoroughly enjoyed keeping things light-hearted and finding the fun in everything. He graduated from MacArthur High School in 1987 and joined the US Navy in November 1987.
Jeff met Vicki Plant, the love of his life, in 1996 at the Wetmore Store. Jeff and his “Lady” knew how to make each other laugh and loved their daily life together. Spending time outside listening to music and enjoying their outdoor space made going home at the end of a long day special.
Jeff and Vicki welcomed their son Stormius Jackson in 1999 and made countless memories as a family hunting and fishing. One of Jeff’s favorite songs became “Wheels on the Bus” and he found amusement in singing this song to Stormy on their way to school no matter what age Stormy was.
Jeff started his own business, Sauer’s Painting, on August 1, 1998 and was very proud of the numerous projects that were completed. He was delighted to have repeat customers who were so pleased with both his craftsmanship and his cheerful disposition. When his son Stormius joined the business Jeff was overjoyed and absolutely loved working together.
Everyone who knew Jeff knew that he was proud of his garden, passionate about cooking good food and sharing recipes. He made sure that anyone who visited didn’t leave empty-handed and was quick to share his bounty.
Jeff loved animals and taking care of them very much. Throughout the years he has been the proud owner of several dogs, cats, cows, horses, chickens, goats, rabbits and sheep. He gave special attention to each one and loved greeting them at feeding time.
On Jeff’s days off he enjoyed visiting with his parents, grocery shopping and being outside in the pool relaxing. He worked hard but always knew how to “chill out.”
Jeff will always be remembered for valuing time with his family and coordinating events. His jalapeno poppers and wings were staples on our family’s Super Bowl menu but his dancing to the Halftime Show was as memorable as the delicious food. Jeff also made sure the kids in our family had a special Easter with a pinata, but he found even more enjoyment by watching them try to crack it open.
Jeff is survived by his wife Vicki; son, Stormius and Tiffani; parents, George and Mary Lee; siblings, Kenny and Paty Sauer, Patty and Layman Hendrex, Joanie and Frank Wurz; and lots of loving family, friends and four-legged friends.
Visitation and Funeral Services will take place at Porter Loring Funeral Home North. Visitation is on August 27th from 4pm-7pm and Funeral Services will be on August 28th at 10am. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery
In lieu of flowers Jeff’s family has asked for donations to be made to the ASPCA in honor of his love for animals.
