

Bill was born in San Antonio on March 18, 1927. His education was in the S.A.I.S.D. at Travis Elementary, Mark Twain Junior, and Jefferson High schools.
He served in the U.S. Navy in 1945 and 1946.
After graduation from the University of Texas in 1950, he married Emily Thompson in 1951.
Bill was engaged for about one half of his business career in the wholesale lumber trade.
He was then employed by Winn's Store, Inc. where he became Vice President and Director before retiring in 1989.
Bill joined St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in January 1955 and had been a faithful and productive member assuming various leadership roles, especially in the development of church facilities.
Along with Emmy, his wife of 54 years, his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Julia Grooms of San Antonio; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Michael Sullivan of Austin; nephews, Ralph W. Hall, Jr. of Sugar Land; William B. Hall of Pahrump, Nevada and Tracy D. Hall of Denton, North Carolina; and brother-in-law and wife, Daniel Thompson and Elizabeth Callaway.
