Jesse was such a special person-we miss him dearly.  What a joy to call him and Shirley our friends.  He was so proud of all his family you were deeply loved .  We share your loss.  Our prayers and sympathy are with all of you. We celebrate his life.

I am sure all of my cousins will agree that Jesse Jones was an amazing grandfather. For me he was more, though. He was the closest thing to a father I had. Because he was there for me, I have no memory of feeling like anything was missing. My grandfather has been an inspiration to me all my life. As a child, I had trouble understanding the idea of God, but in watching how Grandpa lived, I knew I wanted to learn more. I wanted what he had. I struggled with my faith for years before meeting my current best friend, who could explain what I saw in my grandfather. It turns out I had been learning about the unconditional love of God from my grandfather all my life. Grandpa was the strongest Christian I have ever known. I am not yet as strong in my faith as grandpa was, so while I know and can rejoice in the fact that he isn't suffering anymore, I sometimes find myself filled with sadness. The sad moments always pass. I pray with God's help I can soon be only filled with happiness when I think of my wonderful grandfather.

Daddy, 
You have been my rock all of my life.  When you died, my rock crumbled and I thought I would fall.  I didn't.  I stumbled but kept going just like you would want me too. 
 I found the letter I wrote to you in December 1996 when you went on your Emmaus Walk and I want to share it. 

"Dear Daddy,
A girl couldn't ask for a better father.  You have always been there for me when I needed you, You are the male infleuence in Jessica's life and there isn't anyone I know who could do a better job.  You are the exception to the rule where men are concerned.
I was thinking about some of the things you used to do with us kids.  I remember how you used to play your guitar and sing to us.  That is why I still like Elvis.  When you were overseas, I remember going to the Lynn Theater and watching Elvis movies.  I always cried because when he played and sang, I would think of you.  I also remember that we could never pass up a Tilt-A-
Whirl at carnivals or amusement parks.  You, Jeff  and I would spin as fast as we could.  I remember us camping, renting a boat and fishing too.
The most important thing you have done has been to model the life of a Christian.  You are the only person I know that truly reads the Bible everyday.  You are patient, kind, compassionate, you rarely lose your temper (if ever) and you show me what is right by your actions.  "Do as I say, not as I do," has never been your motto.  You have been through some hard times in your life but you always seem to turn to the Lord and let Him guide you through.  I think that it is your devotion to studying God's word that helps you feel so close to God.  Every relationship requires work, most of us want short cuts in life but when I think of what you have, I feel like I really want to work on my relationship with God.  You are an inspiration! 
I don't know how to express how much I love and respect you.  I hope you know that I do love you and I really respect you and how you have chosen to live your life."

I miss you.  I hope you and Momma are waltzing across Heaven.
