Jesse's family was the bedrock of his life. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Maria de Jesus Morales. He is survived by his father, B. E. Morales Jr.; brother, B. E. Morales III; sister, Esmeralda Weston; and by his current wife, Victoria. From previous marriages he is survived by his children: son, Lorenzo Lucantonio Morales; daughter, Elisa Morales; and son, Alejandro Morales.
Early in life, Jesse showed a strong dedication to education and service. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio and an MBA from Phoenix University. He proudly served in the United States Air Force Civil Engineering activity. After his military service, he pursued exciting work with General Dynamics, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and significantly contributed to the security of the United States of America.
God blessed Jesse with many talents. He loved reading and trying to understand the Bible. He loved learning about math and science. He adored music and played the guitar, but his passion was singing. He could hit the high notes---singing in the car, belting songs out at home, karaoke contests and in church. He was funny and with a gritty approach to life. He aimed to be cooperative but also relished arguing sometimes for argument’s sake. His presence was a force difficult to ignore. His absence will be felt deeply.
He felt everything deeply, and many things about him were too much. He felt too much, married too much, took learning to an excess, shared too much, would informally preach too much; and most of all, he drank too much---maybe to quiet the too much of it all.
In remembering Jesse, we celebrate a complicated mind with many nuances tough to disambiguate. At this goodbye, there is only room for acceptance of him and the opposites that he embodied—the obedient soldier/the defiant son, the heretical critic/the Bible quoter, the humorist/the intensely anxious person, the angel singing/the devil arguing, the sober thinker/the drunk feeler, the dad who loved his children with all of his heart/the absent dad, the forceful, confident man/the vulnerable sad boy soul---all in imperfect humanness. His spirit will continue to confound those who knew him while encouraging us all to live with purpose, to cherish every moment, and to leave a positive imprint. May his memory guide us toward our own aspirations, forgiveness, acceptance, and love for each other.
