Jimmie Cecille Porterfield passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024, in San Antonio, at the age of 82. Her family rejoices in the knowledge that Jimmie is happy and healthy in the presence of her Savior.
Jimmie was born in San Diego but soon moved to Fort Worth, where she lived for 51 years, then to Granbury for 22 years. She spent the last seven years of her life in San Antonio, where she moved to be closer to her daughters and their families. Jimmie loved her family and loved every opportunity to be together. To the grandkids, she was GeGe - always fun, funny, and full of personality.
Jimmie also loved her friends and enjoyed spending time with them. After moving to San Antonio, she maintained her close Fort Worth and Granbury friendships. She also made close friends in San Antonio at her church and with Women’s Connection. She loved going out to lunch, shopping and being involved in Bible Study with her friends.
Jimmie’s love of music and her gift of singing were key parts of her entire life, from singing at church and with Christian Women’s Club, to singing at both daughters’ weddings and both parents’ funerals. Jimmie also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with friends and family. She loved her annual trip with friends to Salado, her trips with her brother and sister-in-law to England and to visit family in Mississippi, and her family ski trips to Northern New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Mae Broadway Ivy and James E. Ivy. Jimmie is survived by her daughters, Robyn Myers and husband John and Jodi Teis and husband David; grandchildren, JC Myers and wife Lauren, Matthew Myers, Colton Teis and wife Alex, and Ashlyn Harbor and husband Conner; great-grandson, Kayden John Myers; brother Larry Ivy and wife Marilyn; niece Kim Criswell, niece Lauren Chiong and husband Horacio, and nephew Travis Ivy and wife Nana, as well as numerous extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
Jimmie loved flowers, especially yellow roses, in her home, in her yard and even those she saw while on vacation. For those who may wish to, donations in memory of Jimmie to Coker Methodist Church or flowers for the service would honor her well.
