Mr. Whitehead served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He worked and retired from Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base in the Civil Engineering Department.
Mr. Whitehead was preceded in death by his first son, Jimmy Lee Whitehead Jr.; parents, Abbie and Frank Whitehead; sister, Anna Louise Patterson; and brothers, Frank Finch Whitehead, Terrell Whitehead and Roy Finch.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jo Menck Whitehead of San Antonio, Texas; son, Bruce Whitehead of Corpus Christi, Texas; and brother, Billy Jo Whitehead and his wife, Betty Ann of San Antonio, Texas.
