Jo Ann Parks Harber passed away on May 30, 2018 and went to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born to Rosco Smith Parks and Thelma Giddens Parks on December 2, 1932 on her Grandfather Giddens’ farm Near Canton, Texas in Van Zandt County.
She grew up in San Antonio from the age of 9, graduating from Burbank High School in 1950 and attending San Antonio College. She was employed at Kelly Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base in accounting and payroll and later was the church secretary at the San Pedro Church of Christ.
She married her husband Joe Harber at Palm Heights Church of Christ on August 8, 1958, remaining a devoted and loving wife for almost 60 years. She had three children, Cindy, Paul and Suzanne as well as 5 grandchildren who she loved and raised to love the Lord. She volunteered countless hours to schools, PTAs and churches. She was an excellent seamstress and sewed for family, friends, and church projects.
She was a member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ for over 24 years where she was an active member of the Ladies Bible class, often teaching classes. She taught Sunday School for children most of her life, sang in the church choir and along with Joe, planned lunches for the church senior group.
She lived with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for over 37 years. She was a gracious and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to so many people. She will be missed by her family who loved her so very much.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Joe Harber, daughters Cindy Neagle and husband Bill of Kernersville, NC, Suzanne Suk and husband John of San Antonio, grandchildren Alice Marie Guerra, of Pacific Palisades, CA, Daniel Alexander Guerra and Samuel Benjamin Guerra of San Antonio, Jeremy Wyatt Neagle of Kernersville, NC, Rachel Colleen Neagle of Charleston, South Carolina, brother Gilbert (Dub) and wife Gloria Parks of Austin, TX, niece Robin Roberts and husband Randall, of Austin, Tx and nephews Gary and wife Yongok and Randy Parks. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Paul Alan Harber in 2003 as well as her parents, Roscoe and Thelma Parks.
Visitation will take place on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 1pm at Sunset Ridge Church of Christ with a the funeral service beginning at 2pm with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
