

Joann Ruth Connolly Holland, born May 27, 1946, passed from this life on January 30, 2006. Joann was a librarian for Holy Name Catholic School as well as the Assistant to the Principal. Before coming to Holy Name School, Joann was the Administrative Assistant to Charles Kight, CEO for Community First Health Plans.
Prior to moving to San Antonio, Joann worked as an Administrative Assistant for various doctors and departments at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Al., where she worked for Dr. David Dean, a neurosurgeon now in practice here in San Antonio.
Joann was born and raised in Atlanta, GA. The daughter of Joseph Connolly and Ruth McKenney Connolly, she has two younger brothers and a younger sister.
After graduating from high school, she took some classes at Georgia State before marrying her high school sweetheart, Benjamin Holland, Jr. Joann and Ben moved to San Antonio in the late 1960's and remained here until 1975. They returned to San Antonio in 1994 and have been here ever since.
Joann was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church for several years before her husband became an Anglican Minister. She was a certified Precepts instructor as well as a Sunday School teacher at her husband's church over the past few years. She found her greatest joy in teaching children and enjoyed being around her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Joann is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rev. Benjamin E. Holland; daughter, Leslie Holland; granddaughter, Joanna Marie; grandson, Nicholas Alexander; her brothers: Mr. and Mrs. John and Annette Connolly, and Rev. and Mrs. Bill and Debbie Connolly; her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and Melissa Cooler; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Holland; brother-in-law, William Thomas Holland and Beth Boland Holland; four nephews: Kevin Connolly, Sean Connolly, Robert Cooler and Jonathan Cooler; and three nieces: Anlea Connolly Kittinger, Rachel Holland and Katherine Holland, and the people who are St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church. Many cousins and friends around the country also survive her.
A reception will follow the memorial service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael and All Angels, the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
