

He married the love of his life Flor Alba, in New York. They were happily married for 38 years. Joaquin enjoyed a 40 year career as a chef. He loved to cook at home and enjoyed having friends and family over for feasts. He liked cooking foods from different cultures, especially European continental foods. He was also a coin collector, winning many awards along the East coast at coin collecting conventions. He almost always had "best in show" or first place. Joaquin was a boxing fan and loved to travel. He and his family traveled to South America, Europe and other places around the globe. He also loved opera and classical music and had season passes to the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flor Medina; daughters, Christina Medina, Esther Medina, and Alice Doura; son, Ruben Medina; grandchildren, Kevin Doura, Michael Doura, and Richard Lauth; and great grandchildren, Selena Lauth and Richard Lauth III.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
