

Joe Elizondo, born on August 14, 1962, in San Antonio, Texas, passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 63. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon Elizondo and Petra Sifuentes Elizondo, and his brother, Paul Elizondo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Magdalena (Maggie) Cavazos Elizondo. Joe also leaves behind his brother Augustine and his wife Beatrice, along with their children, Augustine Elizondo Jr. and Irma Elizondo; his brother Raymond and his wife Sylvia, and their children, Roger Elizondo and wife Clarissa, Eddie Elizondo, Raymond Elizondo Jr., Diana Elizondo and husband Fernando, Lydia Elizondo and husband Art; his brother Jesse Elizondo and wife Beatrice, and their children, Jessica Elizondo and Jesse Elizondo Jr.; his sister Josie Elizondo Davis and husband Jeff, along with their children, Lisa Ponce and husband Jason and their children, Alyssa Castro and John P. Elizondo Gomez; his brother Felix Elizondo and wife Roseanna, and their child, Felisha Elizondo; and his sister Susan Lozano and her late husband, Amador.
Joe attended Edgewood High School and built a career in the solid waste industry, working for Allied Waste for 17 years and Alamo 1 for 2 years. He was known for his love of rock and roll and Tejano music, with idols such as Thin Lizzy, Kiss, Godsmack, and Mazz. He also admired WWE icons Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, enjoyed movies like "Planet of the Apes" and horror films featuring Christopher Lee, and was a fan of the TV show "Gomer Pyle USMC."
Joe will be remembered for his sense of humor and his honesty, always speaking the truth regardless of whether it was well-received. He was street smart, cautious, and known for his impatience. His remarkable memory spanned from his childhood to his final days.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, located at 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX 78238, on January 8, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A chapel service will take place at the same venue on January 9, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a committal service at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian, 11624 Culebra Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253, from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The Elizondo Family invites guests to wear Joe’s favorite color, purple, for his services, if you are able. In addition, the funeral home will provide a donation box for any guests that would like to bring a donation towards Joe’s funeral.
