Mr. Gonzales was a Korean War Veteran.
He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and was an inspiration to his family. Joe was a sports fanatic and coached baseball for his children and grandchildren and many other children at Fort Sam Houston and Palm Heights area.
Survivors: wife of 42 years, Romana A. Gonzales; daughters, Cynthia Guillen and Sandra Jean Trevino; stepson, Fernando Fernandez; grandsons, Arnold Gonzales, Gerald Trevino, Justin Trevino, Eric Trevino, Dominic Fernandez, and Isaac Fernandez; granddaughter, April Marie Guillen; sisters, Olga, Patsy and Rachel; brothers, Mario and Rudy.
