Joe Melancon

Joe Melancon, age 86, went to be with Our Lord on February 9, 2017. Joe is survived by his loving wife Flo of 59 years, and also his children, Cindy Greenwood (David), Ted Melancon (Lilas), Kevin Melancon (Candis), loving grandchildren Allison, Hanna and Olivia Melancon; brother, Johnny Melancon, numerous nieces and nephews and preceded in death by parents, brother, Leonard Melancon, and his sister, Hazel Henry.

Joe was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He Enjoyed the Silver Sneakers class at the gym and participation at NE Senior Center, especially playing Bunco. He retired from Tobin Mapping Company and later as an Independent Petroleum Landman. Joe enjoyed visiting with people, reading, watching The Spurs and Dallas Cowboys, and loved visiting and talking to his granddaughters.

Visitation at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy. 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with Rosary at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Funeral Mass will be at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3303 Urban Crest, at 9:45 AM on February 23, burial following at Fort Sam Houston at 11:15 am, with a luncheon to follow at St. Pius Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
