Johanna Catharina (Yoka/Joke) Lemmen passed away suddenly on December 23, 2013, at the age of 62. She was a loving wife and mother who cherished her family and friends. Yoka was born on October 14, 1951 in Etten-Leur, the Netherlands to Jan and Naan Luijten. She grew up in Etten-Leur with her three siblings. She graduated from high school at Regina Nostra in Etten-Leur in 1967. Yoka was married to the love of her life, Petro Lemmen, on July 30, 1976. They moved to San Antonio in 1989. Yoka was extremely dedicated to her family, friends and the community. She volunteered her time at several schools in the San Antonio area, officiated at swim meets, and was very proud to share her story and encourage everyone to join bone marrow registries worldwide. Yoka loved spending time outdoors, particularly in her garden with Petro, and walking with her dog, Bing. She especially enjoyed playing games of all kinds.
Yoka is survived by her husband, Petro; her daughters Ketrina and Celina; her sons in law, Jarhett and Kelly; and her siblings, Jan, Jos and Karin and their families. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
