ODE TO A FALLEN COWBOY
All of the tools that are essential to a cowboy
are assembled here today,
just the way he left them,
ready for him when he needs them again:
His boots, his hat, and his rope.
One boot is standing and one is lying down.
The boot that is lying down represents
the fallen cowboy.
His hat, beside his boots,
with all of the character his hard work could give it, said to be a true a reflection of the wearer.
The rope is laid over the boots and the hat,
touching them all,
symbolizing the love that binds and offers a stronghold in times of trouble.
