

Dr. John Denny was a former professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio and currently an associate professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center Department of Ophthalmology, HEB Pharmacist, and a member of the board of directors for the Texas Transportation Museum. He acquired a BS degree in Pharmacy, MS degree in Pharmacology, Ph.D. in Biochemistry, attended 3 years of medical school, and completed his post doctoral studies under the direction of 1999 Nobel Laureat Gunter Blobel at Rockefeller University. He was also a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, scientific author, avid train enthusiast, talented musician, and amateur arborist and astronomer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Harvey Denny, 1974, and mother, Dorothy Mae Luke Denny Henderson, 1996.
Survived by his wife, Callise Ollom Denny of San Antonio; son, Bryan Denny and fiancee Chelsey Morell of New York City; daughter, Kathleen Denny Van Osterom and husband George of Laurel, Maryland; stepson, William Reese and wife Lisa and their daughters Emily and Charlotte of San Antonio; stepson Gene Reese of San Antonio; sister, Mary Nell de la Garza and husband Victor of Mc Allen; sister, Sharon Denny Root and husband James of Pleasanton and their daughter Jennifer of San Antonio; nephew Aaron de la Garza and wife Jennifer Lueckemeyer and their daughter Ada Grace of Austin; niece Vanessa de la Garza Smith and son Jake of Cedar Park; sister-in-law, Kristi Hull and husband Buz and family of Junction; father-in-law, Merle Ollom and wife Jean of Gonzales; and numerous maternal relatives.
