As a young man he moved to New York and lived in Sayville and Patchogue, Long Island. He served his country in the Army during World War II in the North Africa Campaign and the Allied Invasion of Italy.
He met his wife, Eloise in San Antonio while stationed at Fort Sam Houston where she was a volunteer for the U.S.O.
He is preceded in death by his father, John S. Gorham; his mother, Olive Gorham and his brother, Oliver Gorham.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eloise H. Gorham; his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Alec Iorio; daughter, Cynthia Gorham; son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Meg Gorham and five grandchildren. He is also greatly missed by his constant feline companion, Mandy. John was a Mason and a proud member of the Lonnie Irvin Daylight Lodge.
